Security Alert (A21-01-01): Vulnerability in Firefox

Description:

Mozilla has published a security advisory (MFSA 2021-01) to address a vulnerability in Firefox browser. A remote attacker could entice a user running a vulnerable browser to visit a web page with specially crafted content to exploit the vulnerability.

 

Affected Systems:

  • Firefox ESR prior to version 78.6.1
  • Firefox prior to version 84.0.2

 

Impact:

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability could lead to arbitrary code execution on an affected system.

 

Recommendation:

Mozilla has released new versions of the product to address the issues and they can be downloaded at the following URLs:

  • Firefox 84.0.2 for Windows, Macintosh and Linux

  • Firefox ESR 78.6.1 for Windows, Macintosh and Linux
